Pretty Pylons

Came across this great story on BBC this week and thought I’d post it. The National Grid in the UK are staging a design competition to conceive a pylon for the future. More and more pylons will be required as new energy sources are hooked up to the national grid so it’s a welcome move that the design and impact of the plyons are also being taken into consideration. Shown here are images from a previous design competition held in Iceland. This memorable pylon was based on a humanoid figure by US architects Choi + Shine. Pretty amazing idea.
