World Design Capital Shortlist
Some very encouraging news emerged yesterday when Pivot announced that Dublin has been shortlisted alongside Bilbao and Cape Town to become World Design Capital 2014. The title is awarded by the ICSID biannually to cities that use design to benefit people socially, culturally and economically.
Bob Grey, who was responsible for designing the bid document spoke to The Small Print and had this to say: “Absolutely delighted. The bid is proof that we have the resources to create value and enable change in our city. We now need to make sure that we use this potential to make a real difference. Our main goal from the beginning was for people to understand the value that design can bring to our everyday lives and that still remains the goal.“
The winner will be announced later this year. We have our fingers and toes crossed.
