A Gentleman of Letters
Today we’ve a great post to start the week with. Kevin Freeney (1919-1986) was a sign painter who operated in Dublin from 1930’s onwards. Such were his talents, he hand painted over 700 shops, pubs and restaurants throughout the city. Not to mention vehicles, cinema listings and whatever else his great skills could adorn. Kevin’s family recently published over 300 images of his work from Dublin and beyond under the brilliantly named FlickR account A Gentleman of Letters. It’s a real treat to browse through the galleries and see how brilliant and varied Kevin’s work was — his contribution to the city’s identity really was immense.
We’ve posted a few images below… make sure to visit the main FlickR page listed above.
Massive thanks to our man in Birmingham Jonny C. Blaze for sending this on.
