Posted by AlAug 2012The SCOOP Foundation ( Saving Children Out Of Property) is a charity from Dublin set up by long time friend of Synth Eastwood Andy Sweeney and a group of hard working volunteers. Together they have raised large volumes of money to help homeless children in India & Cambodia with a series of creative events. One of these events is the SCOOP Art auctions, of which alone have raised 60,000+ euros for their many causes. The next in the series comes up on October 14th and the call for submissions is still open. If you think... [Read more]

Posted by Synth EastwoodAug 2012Who doesnt love a good timelapse video? Well this here is a great one. An after-dark ode to Los Angeles shot by local-man Colin Rich and produced by Pacific Star Productions. If I wasn't already jealous enough of California for their sun, sea and sand now I'm green-eyed for their Nightfall too. ... [Read more]

Posted by Synth EastwoodAug 2012Aside from this Minimix No. 24, Berlin based Greystone native The Drifter (AKA Mark Flynn) brings his musical stylings to this years Electric Picnic twice. Mark plays the Barcardi tent and following on from the success of his back-to-back set with Lil'Dave at Body & Soul festival the pair perform again in EP's Body and Soul Section this weekend. Not to be missed. This collection of music here in The Drifter own words is a "warm summery mix" obvious a cruel joke on... [Read more]

Posted by AlAug 2012I just can't get enough of William Hundley, the Texas based artist displays such effortless simplicity with his ideas and their delivery, it's quite dazzling. The Entopic Phenomenon series so addictive I could only limit my featured edit to 18 examples. His website is jam packed with sharp visual trickery in the form of photos, installations and sculpture. Take the rest of the day off and have a mosey around his brain/website. ... [Read more]

Posted by Synth EastwoodAug 2012Jacob Whibley is an artist who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. His output is beautifully simple in construction but subtle and skilled in composition. He is stylistically confident showing strong influences of Bauhaus especially Kandinsky. He works in 2D & 3D mixed-media with found materials largely making up the nuts and bolts of his abstract creations. Very nice altogether.... [Read more]

Posted by AlAug 2012Possible Metrics are a Montreal based group who produce short films and interactive projects. Gravity is an oldie but a real beauty, in which they create a rhythmic audio landscape inspired by smashing timing. Sonar is also an excellent video where they put the cart before the horse with excellent results. Making the sounds from the animation a custom which is rare.... [Read more]

Posted by Synth EastwoodAug 2012This month has been a great one for County Wicklow on a few fronts namely the solid gold that has come in the form of a collaboration of musicians from Arklow and Greystones. Singer Roisin Murphy has acquired the remix skills of Mano le Tough to great effect and releases a beauty on the ever-growing juggernaut Permanent Vacation records. A patient bassy rise to a lovely arpeggiated climax providing perfect accompaniment to this sunny ... [Read more]

Posted by Synth EastwoodAug 2012Keeping on the bike theme, this is a very short film telling the amazing story of 2 girls, 7 years, 10 million dollars worth of venture capital and 1 invisible bicycle helmet. Urban cycling is dangerous and let's face it nobody likes wearing the current bicycle helmets well Sweden's Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin have the answer, Hovding. Watch the film and find out how....
