His passion, like the Impressionists of old, is to depict natural light and its ever changing qualities. That said its little surprise "Cahan is particularly compelled to pursue the magical light of a sunrise or sunset". New York's John Locke thinks people should read more. So in the past few months, the Columbia architecture graduate has been sneaking around Manhattan with a sack of donated books and custom-made shelves, converting old pay phones into pop-up libraries.... Posted by AlFeb 2012Having seen half our country's home owners fall foul of negative equity and the other burdened by non-existent access to credit, in an effort to live closer to his kids, architect Dominic Stevens was forced to rethink the property process. With the help of his friends, family and a few specialists, in 50 days and for a total cost of 25,000 euro Dominic built his own 3 bedroomed house. Posted by AlFeb 2012Synth Eastwood HQ has been really enjoying this mix from Coma which was aired on Beats in Space at the end of January. Coma are German duo Georg Conrad and Marius Bubat who have released tracks on Kompakt records. They describe themselves as "new rave & oldschool techno, 80s pop and 2k-modernity in a deep hug" but don't let that scare you off. Great stuff altogether. Malika has been living in the UK for the last 7 years with 4 of them spent working at design company Airside. Her striking use of simple palettes, negative space and flat colour has gained her contracts from magazines such Creative Review , Little White Lies and Wallpaper and publishing giants Penguin. She rolls and loops strips of Japanese Mulberry paper around any item small enough (ie. pins or drill bits) and builds these cross-sectional images as a plan view.
