  1. Say Hello to John Whitney
    Posted by Dave
    Feb 2011
I was recently reminded of the amazing work of John Whitney, the guy a lot of people consider to be the original big daddy of computer graphics. Although Whitney is most famous for his commercial ventures – like the title sequence for Hitchcock's 1958 film Vertigo – the reason for this post is his experiments. For of these experiments, in the 60's, he... [Read more]
  2. Streetwise Streetview

    Feb 2011
Bill Guffey is an American oil painter who's idea is simple and brilliant. Using Google's Street View he travels the world looking at places he'll probably never visit. A very 21st century thing to do. Once he finds a spot he likes he then sets about painting it. A very 20th century thing to do. He's painted landscapes everywhere from rural France and Italy to urban America and Portugal. You can see... [Read more]

    Feb 2011
To coincide with our Cycles Show going live today, we have featured an artist that kindly took part in the 2008 show. Hailing from Heidelberg, Germany and armed with an array of black pens, we present Heiko Windisch - Illustrator extraordinaire. His shiny website is well worth putting the kettle on for. Stand out sections include a page where he shows his... [Read more]
  4. The visual trickery of Francois Vogel

    Feb 2011
Since I have continously been likened to the man in this video over the last few weeks I've decided he deserves his own post! Shown here is a clip in which my doppelganger demonstrates a new device which creates 3D without the glasses. Take a look and let us know if you think FranÁois Vogel's invention is the real deal. You're probably already familiar with ... [Read more]
  5. The World is a Jaar
    Posted by Al
    Feb 2011
Nicolas Jaar is a New York producer who played live in Dublin last year and left everyone speechless as to what genre describes him. Since then every piece of Information I have received on him has urged me to say "wow", "holy moly" or both. Jaar was born in NY, lived most of his life in Chile but returned to the big Apple in his teens. At the tender age of 17, before he'd finished secondary school, he had a release on Brooklyn based Wolf and Lamb records. Before 18 he had played everywhere from The Marcy Hotel in his... [Read more]
  6. Meet The Lonely Beast
    Posted by Davey
    Feb 2011
The Lonely Beast is a new childrens book written and illustrated by our good friend Chris Judge. It tells the story of a solitary beast who travels to the city in search of others like him. Chris uses a variety page layouts and panel sizes to tell the story in a really interesting and engaging way. Not to mention beautifully illustrated. The kids who attended the launch were entralled with the book and could be seen sitting around in little groups pointing out and discussing their favoutire pages. The Beast even... [Read more]

First up to pleasure your ears is Synth Eastwood's Simon Cullen.... [Read more]
  8. Detroit’s rise and fall and rise again.
    Posted by Davey
    Feb 2011
Detroit is a city that seen its fair share of crashes. Once a mecca of industry and labour, it's now almost one third derelict. Where once there were busy factories and work plants there now lies empty and broken buildings. But as we've seen time and time again empty spaces, a lack of amenities and a cheap cost of living are the perfect ingredients for creative communities to blossom.... [Read more]

  10. These shoes grow back as trees. Wow.

    Feb 2011
There's sometimes a certain amount of scepticism when it comes to eco-fashion. Images of hemp lounging pants and Birkenstock stilettos all too easily get put forward. It's with this in mind that Dutch footwear company OAT have released their super stylish and super eco-friendly Virgin Collection. Made entirely from biodegradable materials the Virgin Collection also have seeds sown into their soles. This means when you bury them in the garden... [Read more]
